Shenendehowa rising senior Ian Anderson has made it to the final tryout for this year’s USA Baseball 18U National Team.

It was announced Saturday that Anderson, a 17-year-old pitcher from Rexford, is one of 28 remaining candidates for the national team after two weeks of tryouts in North Carolina.

The final tryout for Anderson starts Aug. 16 in Los Angeles, where the pool of players will be cut to 20.

If Anderson makes the team, he will compete later this summer for USA Baseball at the 2015 WBSC 18U Baseball World Cup in Nishinomiya, Japan.
Anderson went 6-1 with a 0.66 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 53 1⁄3 innings across 11 appearances during his 2015 high school season.

Nationally, he was an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings High School All-America third-team selection; locally, he was recognized as the Suburban Council Pitcher of the Year.

He is committed to Vanderbilt University.
