Ian Anderson’s terrific summer continued this weekend, as the rising senior pitcher at Shenendehowa continued to make a name for himself on the national scene, earning recognition as the top prep pitcher and competing in a high-level showcase exhibition game.

Saturday, Anderson — a right-handed pitcher from Rexford — was named the Baseball America Pitcher of the Year at the Perfect Game All-American Classic Awards Banquet at the San Diego Hall of Champions.

Today, Anderson competed in Perfect Game’s all-star showcase game, striking out two while tossing a scoreless inning in a contest featuring the country’s top prep players.

The game was shown on the MLB Network.

Anderson’s stop in San Diego was on his way to Los Angeles, where he will resume trying out for this year’s USA Baseball 18U national team. That tryout ends Wednesday, and the players that make the team will compete this year in a world tournament in Japan.

Throughout this summer, Anderson has solidified himself as a consensus top-five prospect amongst class of 2016 graduates.

He is committed to Vanderbilt University.
